case status, Case Status
The primary indicator of the current state of your business process. By using case statuses, you communicate progress to people that are involved in case processing to ensure a common understanding on the path to reaching your business objectives.

For example, you can use a status In-Progress to communicate that a case worker is working on a case, and Resolved-Completed to announce that the case reached a successful resolution. You can use default statuses, or you can create custom statuses to meet your unique business needs.
